Watercolor!
Watercolor has been a recent adventure of mine! It is basically the complete opposite of coloured pencils for so many reasons. First and probably the greatest difference is that it requires speed instead of lots of time.
Working on a coloured pencil drawing is slow and methodical. It’s very time consuming and I love the slow detailed process. Doing some watercolor the last few weeks has been a fun adventure in letting go and gaining speed. There’s a lot to be done while it’s wet and time doesn’t allow for you to stop and think too much while it’s ticking away and water is drying.
I’m definitely loving the process of learning how to control a brush and create shapes with it, how much water and paint to use to get a specific effect and mixing of the colors to create the colors I want. It’s fun to see art taking shape so quickly and learning to let go of some things because the water and paper have a bit of a mind of their own sometimes.
Next step is to upgrade to a quality paper, brushes and hopefully paint too and see what happens next. Apparently supplies play a huge role in how everything turns out and I’m excited to see what I can do once they arrive!
